My name is Allean Giddens — a girl from a small town in southern Alabama with dreams of spreading my love for design to the world. As long as I can remember, I have had the need to fix things, organize stuff, and shine a light on a room's design potential. As a teenager, I loved going to design and home improvement stores to collect the free catalogs, just to study how they put decor together to create a beautiful space. I often let my imagination run wild for hours in Barnes & Noble and Books-A-Million, looking through architecture and design books. I realized at an early age that I wanted a future in art and design — I was fascinated by the clean lines, the pops of color, the shades of fabric, and the spaces and angles that came together into one amazing masterpiece. I also drew inspiration from those around me. I watched the women in my family create a home for everyone while still revealing their own personal touch — whether it was the small accents of collectibles, wood knick-knacks and figurines, or a beautiful array of rich, colorful pieces and bold wallpapers. That was my special place, and it pushed me to want it more and more. As I grew older, I noticed that every moment and every glimpse had its own attachment to design for me. No matter where I was or what I was doing, I found myself daydreaming about the colors I saw and the spaces I was in — thinking of ways to bring a space to life. How would I make a space work? What color would go well with it? While traveling the world, I saw the difference — the broad range of effects that color and design have on people's daily lives. The motion, the feeling, and the sense of peace they bring. The world of design sits deep within me. My love for bold but balanced expression is the perfect definition of who I am and who I strive to be. I believe our spaces not only reflect who we are — they can manifest who we will become.
